For beginners, a telescopic rod of 3.60 m to 4.50 m in fiberglass is ideal. It offers a good compromise between sensitivity and robustness, perfect for evening fishing or feeder fishing in rivers.
A spinning reel size 2500 to 4000 with a medium gear ratio (5.2:1) is perfectly suitable. It allows casting light to medium lures while maintaining good line control.
For the sea, choose a braided line made of high-density polyethylene (PE) from 0.10 to 0.20 mm. It resists abrasion from rocks and offers great sensitivity to detect subtle bites.
The hair rig is the most effective for carp. Use a fluorocarbon leader of 0.30 to 0.40 mm with a hook size 6 to 10, depending on the bait size.
Sort your lures by type (spoons, crankbaits, soft plastics) and by swimming depth. Use foam dividers and store the heaviest ones at the bottom to avoid tangling.
Float fishing with a 4 m rod and a sensitive float is perfect for calm waters. Use fine groundbait and natural baits like earthworms or corn.
